“ They served superbly delicious roast pork & grilled char siew in town. Not to mentioned their perfectly cooked rice & Hakka Noodle. And to go along with these main dishes are the nicely prepared green pickle chili & blended red chili paste. A well said phase to describe TnR "The Hidden Gems In PJ" I don't fancy pork until I've tasted TnR。。。 My family even went back the same day for dinner after our 1st tried during breakfast time! Trust me, you'll never regret for coming all the way to give it a bite My special note to Angie & Sean, 'well done' ”
“ Their cha siew is extremely good! Probably cos it's roasted in smaller strips as compared to other shops. Make sure to dip into the sweet sauce for yummier taste! However, for my next visit I will opt for rice instead of Hakka mee. The Hakka mee there somehow taste too dry for my liking ”
“ My sister's new local makan - she's chosen really well. Probably a good thing I don't live here too. We ordered a medium plate of char siew, a small plate of siew yuk, a hickory-smoked chicken leg, bowl of wanton (6 pieces), Hakka noodles (with pork mince), choy sum, and beansprouts between four. First off: the char siew is damn good. If I could make char siew this good I'd probably have heart disease aged 40. The pork they use has just the right amount of fat so that it's got a great glaze, but without being overly greasy. The outside has a great caramelised flavour and the texture is perfect. Honestly some of the best char siew I've had. The siew yuk was so-so in comparison - whilst the skin was crispy, the seasoning was a bit uneven and the cut wasn't quite fatty enough so it dried out a bit. It's ok, just a bit lifeless compared to the char siew. The smoked chicken is an odd one - the smoky taste is pretty strong and instantly reminded me of southern US cooking. It's tasty, but some may find it clashes with the rest of the food. I'm not particularly picky and somewhat unrefined, so I didn't mind at all. It's pretty decent, and I'd be interested to see what their normal gai fun chicken is like. The Hakka noodles are great: they have a good bite to them and a nice coating of pork fat. Also, they come topped with yummy crispy fish bits (don't be afraid to ask for more too) which add a nice bit of crunch. The other bits and bobs were all fine - good choy sum, and my lemongrass lime drink was nice (I find too much lemongrass can be a bit cloying, this one got it just right). Overall - go and get some char siew and Hakka noodle. They're excellent. It's not particularly cheap here though and the portions aren't huge. Still, I do think it's worth it, ultimately. Those two dishes really are excellent and well worth it, even with the hassle of parking etc. ”
“ Love their signature juicy char siew as well as the roasted chicken. My regular char siew place in PJ whenever I have the urge . The only problem is finding a parking lot and table especially during peak hours. ”
“ To be honest, I have never eaten here but I had their awesome char siew many many many times. Not only that, I am actually not a big fan of char siew but theirs just can't make me stop! Their char siew is just mouth watering, the meat is just so tender and once you put it in your mouth, it just melts away. I can feel my saliva flowing... And since I have moved to SS 2, Toast & Roast is only less than 5 minutes away! What a blessing eh? Most of the times, I would just have the char siew to be packed and eat it at home, this is because parking can be a pain. The area is quite tight and there's a lot of cars. Goodness. At the same time, their hakka mee is quite good too. ”
